I’ve returned from shooting in the 2018 IDPA US National Championship. I shot with a great group of shooters, and longtime friends, Dave Olhasso, James McGinty, Randi Rogers, Gordon Carrell, Tom Yost, and Matt Sims. I was fortunate to win the High Distinguished Senior award… Great job goes out to the IDPA organization, staff and all who put on this outstanding Nationals event. I can’t say this about every IDPA State match that I shoot in, but this years Delaware IDPA Championship, held at the Bridgeville Rifle & Pistol Club, was a National Level Match. Match Director, Chuck Limpert and the Delaware crew went all in for this match. From the diverse and challenging courses of fire to the detail of matching props and quality of range officers, this was a National Level Event. This match included all aspects of IDPA shooting. I had some mental errors [...]
The IDPA Mountaineer Classic, held in Boone, NC was a “no frills match”. No eye candy… nothing to get excited about. But, as I got prepped to shoot the first stage, I realized that this was going to be a “shooter’s match”. Tight shots, long shots and yes, tight long shots. Swinging and disappearing targets too. Mark and his crew did an outstanding job in course design. I’m pleased to say that I won the CDP division. If you want to [...]
The Carolina Cup is BACK. The Range at True North was sold to Tony Norton and he continued with the Carolina Cup as a Sanctioned IDPA Level II Regional Match. Including 11 stages, the courses were challenging. The ROs were good, the shooting was just plain fun, and I’m proud to say I won the Custom Defense Division. This is definitely a match to add to your shooting schedule for next year! View scores from the day here.
The Kettlefoot Gun Club in Bristol, Virginia put on another outstanding IDPA State Championship match. The ROs were great and the courses were as diverse as they were challenging. Good Job! I shot with a great group of guys and am honored to say that I won the Custom Defense Pistol (CDP) Division and was also First Master in that division!
